Are you friggin insane?
Quite possibly but define insanity.
Why?
Honestly, I can’t think of anything else to do. After University I have the choice of finding work and getting a house and doing that thing or I can travel and go on a round the world trip and see all the lovely tourist spots which does not appeal to me.
Or
I can see how much balls I have by throwing myself into the world against natures forces, restore my faith in a world that has honest and welcoming people rather than being engulfed by biased media stories. I can travel the world without leaving a carbon footprint. I will have the chance to watch shooting stars in the night sky without any light pollution to sample the delights of each countries culture and watch it progressively change as I cycle through it. The list goes on and on but the list would not be complete without the fact that I am doing all this while helping change people’s lives with the money that I raise for Action Aid, so please DONATE.
Where will you sleep while on the road?
Well, the short answer is anywhere. I will have a tent with me for places where I can not find accommodation. I shall also be testing the wonders of the internet and social media sites such as twitter, coach surfers and warm showers to find accommodation.
How are you paying for this?
I have been saving for years. I have saved my student loan and have always had a part time job while at University which turned into full time when University finished.
Why have you stopped your route at Alaska?
For various reasons, one being that I do not know which way to go. It all depends on a number of things to what route I will take next. I plan to move country and settle down somewhere and buy land. So depending on what country attracts me the most this will most likely be the route I will take. To me this is the most exciting adventure I will undertake.
What is your biggest concern?
Well obviously my health and safety are my number one concern. I will consider local advice about certain locations and use advice of other travelers and the foreign office. I will always try to look after myself the best I can while on the road, that goes without saying. I am also concerned about wild animals and running out of water and also having an injury while in the middle of no-where. A snake bite in OZ would be nasty erk. Why am I doing this again
