Life is either a daring adventure or nothing – Helen Keller

Adventure cycling

Sometime in early 2011 I will set off from my home in the UK and attempt to cycle over 10,000 miles to New Zealand using nothing more than my stupidity and my bike. During this trip which will take me about 1 year and will see me travel through 10s of countries I will arrive at New Zealand to meet my girlfriend in which we will start the second part of adventures and walk the length of New Zealand.

After New Zealand I will then attempt to cycle up the spine of the Americas starting from Ushuaia keeping the sea on my left and over 10,000 miles later I will arrive at my final destination of Alaska. This 20,000 mile epic trip will take an estimated 2 years to complete and I will pass through around 40 countries. While the exact route is not yet known for this and the exact route will most likely not ever exist you can see a rough outline for my trip on my route page.

So, the question remains then why? Why not just fly or get the coach to various tourist hotspots and enjoy the popular attractions. Well for those reasons exactly. I want to do something different and although what I’m doing is not that different it still serves as an amazing way to experience the world.

Below are a series of pages made to break my trip into different sections and also to help anyone that is starting to plan their own trip.
